Visiting Graduate Schools
From wsuwiki
Hearing from the University
Most universities communicate mainly through email. You can expect to receive an email as soon as late January to early February although some universities will not respond to your application for admission until March.
The first email will probably notify you that the ME department has recommended you to the graduate school. Shortly thereafter, you will receive an email notifying you of acceptance to the graduate school. Usually, you will also receive an invitation to visit the graduate school on a specific date.
Planning your visit
As soon as you receive an invitation to visit the graduate school, you will need to determine if this fits into your schedule. It is important to go to the first visitation because this will put you on a level field with other prospective students. You will also need to make flight and hotel reservations as early as possible. Most universities will reimburse you for the majority of these costs, but the longer you wait, the more expensive it will be.
