Mac users: please use the Firefox browser to create and display your e-portfolio. PC users: Please use Internet Explorer to create and display your e-portfolio. • From the WSU homepage, www.wsu.edu, click on myWSU. • You will be asked to enter your network ID and password to authenticate and obtain access to my wsu. • Once you are on myWSU, click the mySite link, at the top of the left side of the screen. • You are now ready to begin working on your e-portfolio:
Step 1 - go to myHome
Step 3 - choose "create"
Step 4 - choose "sites and workspaces" under“web pages” on the right-hand side of the page
Step 5 – Under “Select a Template”, choose the “Custom” tab, and then click on ‘Flexible Portfolio”.
Step 6- Give your site a title, and a description. Please use your team number in the URL extension For example, if you are team 26, add this number to the URL name.
Step 7: User permissions – select the “Use unique permissions” button.
Step 8: Display this site on the Quick Launch of the parent site? – Select “No” Display this site on the top link bar of the parent site? – Select “No” Use the top link bar from the parent site? - Select “No”
Step 9: Click “Create” at the bottom of the page. You will now be directed to a page that will allow you to establish specific permissions and make all members of your Freshman Focus team Members or Owners of the site.
Step 10: You will want everyone to be able to visit the site, so click on the Add all authenticated users link under this section. You may want to add each member of your team under the “Owners of this Site” section, if you expect that people will be working on aspects of the e-portfolio separately. Otherwise, if your team is comfortable with it, you can leave site ownership to the team member whose MySite the site is being created off of. However, this means that that person will always have to login before work can be done on the site. Under the Owners of this Site section, you will add the names of all the people in your team. Click on the browse icon (the little book) to search for your team members in the University Directory. Click Ok. You should now see a progress icon and then your new workspace site.
Step 11: You should now see a screen similar to the one below. Click on the “Shared Resources” to begin the process of uploading your photos.
“Shared Picture Library”, click on “Add new picture”.
Click on the “Browse” button to browse to where you have stored the photos on your computer. Find the picture file and click ok. You may give the picture a title, if you like, but it is not necessary to fill in the rest of the fields.
Editing the front or "Home" page Follow the directions below to add text to your page. I would suggest adding the text first, and then upload the photos from your Shared picture library secondly. 1. Under “Site Actions” click “Edit Page”.
2. In the “Portfolio Key Document” section, click “edit” in the top right hand corner, and scroll down to “Modify Shared Web Part”. This will open the “Content Editor” window.
“Click on Rich Text Editor” in the right hand margin of the page.
In the editing window that opens you can add and edit text and images using the formatting tools in the toolbar. You will see icons similar to those that you would see in Microsoft Word allowing you to manipulate the text size, font type, etc. You can also copy formatted text from Microsoft Word and paste it directly in the text window. Once you have finished remember to select "Save" in the bottom right-hand corner of the editing window.
When you are finished working on the text for the page, click “Exit edit mode” to see how the page will display. If you do not like the results, or need to make more changes, simply repeat the previous steps in this section to continue editing/working on the page.
Adding pictures to the Home Page from the Shared Picture Library:
In the editing window, click on the insert image icon (it looks like a mountain with a sun behind it). Under Selected Image, click “browse” which will allow you to browse to one of the pictures in your Shared Picture Library and add it to your front or “home” page.
Click the “Browse” button and select the image that you want to upload.
Under the Size section, choose “Specify Size”. I would choose a width and height somewhere between 300 and 400 pixels. If in doing so you decide that you would like the image to display bigger or smaller, simply change the specified pixels.
