In the product development process there is a sequence of crucial process transformations, such as customer requirements to specification, specification to design, design to prototype, prototype to fabrication, specification to benchmarking and so one. In this chain it is very easy for the customers needs to become augmented or lost. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) addresses these problems by using a graphical matrix format to successfully translate customer needs (customer voice) into design requirements (engineers voice). Although there are many forms in which QFD is represented, ME416 uses the House of Quality (HOQ).
