4-24-07

    -discuss how testing went last saturday April 21
    --there was some good, some not so good
    --motor worked and mid mount worked, foils not so much- showed instability at speed
    --spoke with Dr Matveev, he suggests get foils closer to surface so stabilizing effects are seen
    -work to be done next week!
    --build new foils and test
    --make endurance and sprint drivetrains 
    --propellers have been ordered, new controller and motor too?
    --new steering?
    --test and fix solar panels

-Student Day on Friday April 20

-Show up at the shop at 10am to move the boat, solar panels, flyers and poster

-Need to be at the table from 11am-2pm

-Friday afternoon we will take the boat out for testing!!!

-Show up at the shop after the Student Day about 2-2:30pm to leave at 3pm

-Work party tonight at 6:30pm in Norm's shop

-we plan on taking the boat testing on friday April 13

-we will have a work party to finish up preparing the boat

-we hope to test on the river on Friday April 6 meet at shop at 3pm

-we also need to test solar panels, batteries, and monitoring system

-Dr. Matveev has a remote data acquisition unit, but it needs to be set up

-we need to ask Norm about how best to fix the bent driveshaft

-discussion about competition travel/lodging

-Testing Friday at 3pm

-Friday April 20th: Student Day. Casey can be there from 12-1, Andy will be there the whole time. Set up at 10am

Runs from 11am to 3pm. Kevin will be there from 12-2. Brenden will be there from 10-11. Barbeque 11-2

-The foils and supports are complete and ready for assembly

-remaining to be done before testing- outboard motor mount

-we hope to test in the water April 7

-discuss competition dates and travel arrangements

-next work party Wed 4 at 3pm at the boat (our shop)

-- More work in Norm's shop: Welding complete, have the drilling is complete

-- After hours priviledges:

-- All personnel working in the shop shall have attended orientation.

-- Safety Glasses and proper attire shall be worn.

-- Andy or Casey shall be present.

-- Users of machines shall be checked out on a machine by Norm.

-- Only Solar Splash members shall be allowed to work in the shop.

-- Individuals who have not gone through orientation shall stay in the non-safety glass zone.

-- The work area shall be cleaned up after use.

-- All equipment issues shall be reported to Norm on the squawk sheet.

-- All personnel shall sign the sign-in sheet.

-- Work is only allowed in TFRB L30.


--Picked up other motor

-- Tasks: Test and repair dead cells, Mount electric motor on one oif the outboard motors, mount ouboard in to test hull,.

- we have a new (old) outboard motor! 10hp seems to run fine. - casey and andy will pick up donor outboard. - photo shoot on friday afternoon, it is going to be sweet-awesome.

-Old Hull --front foil drill holes in strut --outboard --struts, rear foil --checkout shops --Smooth out foils

When will me meet to do safety training?

-Friday afternoon, Feb 23rd, after 3:00pm for norm's shop safety orientation

Andy went to meeting with faculty and staff. Topic was student group support. Credit for tech electives, design class.. ect. Dr. Chuck would like: Produce a proposal emailed back within two weeks. Want concrete things- design parameters. Solar Panels: Going through legal, is a go ahead.

Outboards- Lots of individuals selling outboards Reimbusements-Casey, talk to Jan about getting reimbursements

discussion about transitioning leadership roles to younger members, and ideas about getting new membership/ retatining. try to get out to the river more often to test- but might be more exciting (a reason for people to join) we should go out on the mall to advertise each time we go (that day or the day before). Also do more projects (building things is fun!).
