This wiki serves as a resource for research done by students in Washington State University's World Civilizations 110 and 111 classes. The wiki allows you to benefit from the work done by students in previous semesters and to build on that work by adding your own research.

Like Wikipedia, the WSU World Civilizations wiki collects information about a wide range of topics. Unlike Wikipedia, the WSU World Civilizations wiki requires particular attention to the sources of that information. All information from sources should vbe documented with in-text citations and a Works Cited. Every entry in a Works Cited should be accompanied by a short paragraph that assesses the reliability of the source.

We welcome your contributions. There are two fundamental rules that we would like you to follow:

1. The material that you submit should be your own. When you use the exact wording (quotation) or ideas (paraphrase) from a source, you should give credit to that source by including a citation that refers to an entry in your Works Cited. In addition, if you borrow the exact words from a source, you should of course make that clear by using quotation marks.

2. Each of the sources that appears in your Works Cited must be accompanied by a paragraph that assesses its reliability. What are the source's strengths? Its weaknesses? Who produced it and for what purpose? What are the credentials of the person who produced it? Might that person have particular biases that you can identify?
