WSU authored papers in EBSCOhost database

At WSU, EBSCOhost databases are set up on two web pages:Indexes without full text and Indexes with full text. Therefore to collect WSU authored papers, all steps need to be repeated twice.

Step 1

1. Retrieve WSU Authored papers only in Indexes
2. Go to Humanities International Index [1]
3. Login to your "My EBSCOhost"
4. The first time you create this account, Click on Folder and then on Preferences. Set preferences to 50 results per page. Set Export to "Generic bibliographic management software". SAVE
5. Choose indexes:
   • Humanities International Index
   • Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts
   • SPORTDiscus
6. Enter search strategy - "Washington State University" (use quotes)
7. Limit to year of interest (in 2009 - search for 2008, 2007 and 2006 separately". Change date and then click on "Update results"

Step 2

1. Put all citations into Folder. Click on Add (1-50) for each screen
2. When all citations loaded into folder; click on folder; Click on Select (will mark all citations on the page)
3. Click on Export; Leave box clicked for "Remove these items from folder after saving"; Click on SAVE (which means export)
4. Open blank worksheet; On EBSCOhost - click on Exported items; Control A; Control C
5. Move to worksheet; control V (paste); SAVE and label worksheet MASTER
6. Copy Master to another spreadsheet; Label "WSU papers - SDD"'
7. On spreadsheet - Date -Sort - Column A; Delete all lines except those with journal titles (SO; JN)
8. Highlight Column A; Date - Text to Columns - Fixed width - Line four spaces in - Do not leave a space before the title of the journal; Delete column A
9. Remove volume and page information on the SO titles
10. Subtotal - on a new worksheet

Step 3

1. Retrieve WSU Authored papers from full text databases
2. Go to Academic Search Complete [2]
3. Login to your "My EBSCOhost"
4. Choose database:
   • Academic Search Complete
   • America: History & Life
   • ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials
   • Business Source Complete
   • Communication & Mass Media Complete
   • EconLit
   • Educational Administration Abstracts
   • Historical Abstracts
   • MLA International Bibliography
   • Philosopher's Index
5. Enter search strategy - "Washington State University" (use quotes)
6. Limit to year of interest (in 2009 - search for 2008, 2007 and 2006 separately". Change date and then click on "Update results"
7. Go back to step 2
