Genie Battery Assembly (Fall 2006)

GENIE Industry needs a new system for transportation of batteries from the distributor to the final assembled product. The purpose of this project is to decrease the lead time that it takes to install batteries into their product. Within this project these things need to be designed/considered:

• A delivery cart needs to be designed and built.

• That cart needs to be able to carry a certain ammount of batteries to the initial point of the assembly.

• A process for transporting the batteries needs to be developed.

• Battery loading machine needs to be redesigned.

These different redesigned parts will allows us to decrease lead time for the overall project and decrease the ammount of accidents to a minimum. This project is unique because we are not only designing new parts, but also creating a safe project for GENIE workers to use.
