Online Resources

Here are some online resources that should be helpful as you search for information on your topics. The first four databases all provide full text articles. You should be able to access all of these databases from home, although you may be asked to enter your net ID and WSU number before the system will let you in.

  • ProQuest Direct
Provided by the WSU Libraries, ProQuest Direct has articles from journals, magazines and newspapers on a wide variety of topics. Lots of full-text.
  • Ethnic NewsWatch
Provided by the WSU Libraries, Ethnic Newswatch is a full-text collection of the newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press. A rich collection of articles, editorials, columns, reviews, etc. that provide a broad diversity of perspectives and viewpoints. Dates of coverage vary - usually from early to mid-1990's to the present.
  • Contemporary Women's Issues
Provided to you by the WSU Libraries, Contemporary Women's Issues provides access to global information on women from books, journals, newsletters, and research reports. Includes some full text.
  • JSTOR
Provided to you by WSU, JSTOR provides articles from over 100 journals on a variety of topics. JSTOR may not have issues of journals from the last 1-5 years. Full text.
  • Project Muse
Provided to you by WSU, Project Muse contains a small but often useful collection of Social Science journals. Full text.
  • Human Rights Watch
Human Rights Watch is an independent, nongovernmental organization, whose web site provides information on human rights issues around the globe.

What to Do if I Get Stuck

If you don't find what you're looking for in these databases, please ask me (or any helpful reference librarian) for help. WSU Libraries has a very big collection of resources, and anyone who works in the libraries is happy to help you find what you need.

My contact information is all here: Erica Carlson

Other Useful Links

  • Library Home Page - This will let you get into the Griffin catalog, the library's page for searching for articles, and lots of other library information.
  • Griffin Catalog - The WSU Libraries' online catalog. Mainly used for finding books, but it will also let you search for specific journal and newspaper titles, films, audiobooks, and more.
  • Article Indexes and E-Journals - Use the Databases A-Z list to find a database, or browse through the Databases by Subject lists. You can also use the E-Journals Search on the left hand side of the screen to see what journals (not articles) we have available online.
