Descritpion

eHow.com is a quick answer/solutions website that is, instead of being answere in a forum setting is answered by people employed by Demand, which is the company that runs eHow.com. An army of freelance writers and video makers are able to research and answer common questions either with written descriptions or through instructional videos at very litte cost to their company (simply they get paid a portion of the ad revenue). Common people are also allowed to add content, but only about 20% of the eHow content is added by users, and about 25% of the content that is added by the users is taken down the the eHow team that patrols the site making sure the each article is not lacking integrity and reliability. The eHow website got about 52 million visits in September 2009 alone, more than ESPN.com and Twitter.com.

eHow and Web 2.0

eHow utilizes primary points of a Web 2.0 site. eHow looks through all the sites they own and others to determine what it is that people are searching for the most. They then take those topics and research them to create reliable answers that can be found on eHow.com. Demand's ability to listen to the bottom of the pyrimid, the common people, has allowed them to successfully reach millions and answer many of their questions. Much of the sites success comes from determining what the people are interested in, instead of letting the few top people running the site try to guess and hope that the masses like the content of the site. CEO of Demand Richard Rosenblatt said, "We only make content we know there is a need for."
