Durable Links: Other Databases Which Link Like ProQuest

These databases are available from the WSU Libraries' Article / E-Journals page.

You can form durable links to articles within the databases listed here much the same way you do with articles in ProQuest. Some databases require a slightly different process to capture the item URL. Instructions are included for those databases.

While you are on a WSU Campus, copy and paste the URL of your resource in Notepad, or some other word processing application.

Next, add this script AT THE BEGINNING of the URL you copied from the database: http://www.systems.wsu.edu/scripts/WSUAll.pl?

If you can find the DOI number, you can construct a workable link by following these examples:

Emerald

To link directly to the pdf file in Emerald, bring up the article's citation / abstract article. 
On that page, there is a link that reads "View PDF."  Capture this link, then edit out 
the "jsessionid" information out of it.  Here is an example of the original PDF

 because these are associated with a "session id." The best thing to do is to use the
 "Email this page"  feature once you have your article of interest on the screen. 
 When the "Email this page" window comes up, be sure to click the Send Only the URL box before 
sending the email.  When you receive the URL in your email, format it for off campus users.

There is an online tool now that forms durable links to resources in Lexis Nexis.
Don't forget to add the proxy script to whatever links this generates.

Be aware that the tool will construct a link based on the information you type in - regardless
whether the link is valid or not. So you always need to check the link and not assume that it will work.
