Request a course in WebCT CE6
Faculty and instructors
Faculty and graduate instructors can request a course space for WebCT CE6 via our online system at the following URL
http://olerequest.ctlt.wsu.edu
Instructors will need to know their WSU Network ID to request a course. Instructors should also know the course prefix, course number, course section and campus when requesting a WebCT course.
Students
Students are added automatically to WebCT course spaces based on METRO course enrollments and do not need to make any request. If you are officially registered in a WSU course and that course has a WebCT course space you can just log in to WebCT CE6 http://webct.wsu.edu to see your course.
Where do I add my TA to my WebCT class?
The add a teaching assistant, that function now is under the Grade Book in CE6. First go to the teach tab in CE6, then look for the instructor tools in the left hand course menu. Grade Book is listed in this course menu on the left. Click Grade Book and look for the tab function called "enroll members". On the next screen, "enroll members into this course", type the WSU network ID of your TA and then check the box for teaching assistant. Next click the "enroll" button. You should then see your TA listed on the screen. Click the checkbox next to the TA name and click the "Save" button on that page. Your TA must have logged into WebCT at least once to establish their account in CE6. You cannot add them by name but must know the WSU network ID, not password, just network ID. In WebCT, the WebCT ID and the WSU network ID are the same.
If your TA is not found you will need to tell them to go to the login page
On that login page, look for the login below the network ID and password box and have them add their account to WebCT by logging in via myWSU.
The text on that page reads... If you cannot login with your WSU Network ID(NID) and password you may not yet have an account in WebCT. To add your WSU NID account to WebCT please choose this link and login via myWSU.
They only need to do the myWSU login once. After that they will be able to use the normal login box on the http://webct.wsu.edu page.
Once they have logged in try the above procedure again via the gradebook to add your TA.
Activate Your Network ID for CE6 login
CE6 uses the WSU active directory system for login.
Having trouble logging into CE6?
Please make sure your WSU Network ID is active directory enabled.
For WSU students, faculty and staff who established a network ID prior to July 1, 2003 it is strongly suggested you enable your Active Directory Account. This enabling will avoid problems logging into many University systems including WebCT CE6. Please go to URL http://infotech.wsu.edu/itroot and select "Enable Active Directory Acct" under the Student or Faculty/Staff (as is appropriate) pull down lists at the bottom of the page. You can check your account status or activate your account online. In some cases, a "stronger" password may be required in accord with University policy.

Java and WebCT - my computer applet broken, trouble uploading files to file manager, browser closes or freezes, trouble adding attachments
"Java" is an add-on technology that extends the capabilities of web browsers. WebCT uses Java for Chat, Who's Online, file uploads via the "My Computer" icon, and other functions. Having a compatible Java version installed on your system will help you have the best possible WebCT experience; having an incompatible Java version may cause a variety of problems, including browser "crash", "hang", or "freeze" episodes.
Some users have reported problems using WebCT with Microsoft Windows and some versions of the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Reported problems include a "hung" or "frozen" browser on login or when using the "Check browser" link, chat room errors, failure of file uploads via the "My Computer" icon, failure when trying to add attachments to discussions or assignments and possibly other errors.
You can determine what Java version you have, and check its compatibility with WebCT. Go to http://webct.wsu.edu and before you log in, click the "Check Browser" link on the left side of the window.
Please access this page for instructions on how to fix Java problems. http://wiki.wsu.edu/wsuwiki/CE6/java
Drag-and-drop Files into WebCT using WebDAV
WebDAV is a technology that permits file storage areas in WebCT to appear as "Web Folders" on your Windows desktop. (Macintosh users, please see note below.) This means you can drag-and-drop files to and from your My Files and course file areas, just as if they were attached to your computer.
Please follow instructions on the CE6/WebDAV page.
Reorder columns in the gradebook
To reorder columns in the grade book, you check the item you want to move, and then you go to the place you want to move it above or below and click the move icon next to where you are moving it in the list. A common mistake is to check the item you want to move and then click the same move icon next to that item which results in the item not moving.
Then you must click SAVE at the bottom left of the screen to save the changes to the order.
