ASCE:C.E.A.C.C Proposals

Who:

All clubs in the College of Engineering and Architecture (C. E. A.) submit proposals to the College of Engineering and Architecture Coordinating Council (C.E.A.C.C.). The C.E.A.C.C. Representatives should present the proposals to C.E.A.C.C., and they should work with the leader of the individual activity to prepare the proposals.

What:

Funding proposals are submitted to C.E.A.C.C. asking for financial assistance for various activities. There is a standard C.E.A.C.C. form that is filled out electronically for each activity a club wishes to solicit funding for. The C.E.A.C.C. Representative brings enough copies for everyone at the C.E.A.C.C. meeting (twenty copies are usually sufficient) and then provides a brief verbal proposal to the C.E.A.C.C. members. The C.E.A.C.C. Constitution (which can be accessed online at the C.E.A.C.C. website http://www.cea.wsu.edu/ceacc) supplies detailed information on the appropriate procedure. Proposals are evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Quality of the proposal (how well the activity meets the guidelines for what C.E.A.C.C. money can be used for):

C.E.A.C.C. funding shall never be used for food. Events that promote the WSU C.E.A. are more likely to receive funding than activities that only provide benefits for individuals or a club.

  • Amount of funding C.E.A.C.C. has available:

C.E.A.C.C. is likely to grant a larger portion of funding for a proposal if they have more money. Therefore, it is to a club’s advantage to present proposals earlier in the semester, namely when C.E.A.C.C. has their largest pool of money.

  • Attendance to C.E.A.C.C. meetings:

Clubs that have less than perfect attendance to C.E.A.C.C. meetings are penalized when they submit proposals. Thus, it is important for the C.E.A.C.C. Rep(s) to make sure that someone representing ASCE attends all C.E.A.C.C. meetings.

It is a good idea to submit proposals for all major activities that the C.E.A.C.C. constitution says its funds can be used for. ASCE received $2150 for the 2001-2002 year out of $3260 requested. ASCE submitted proposals for the leadership conference, Tri-chapter meeting (noting on the proposal form that ASCE was paying for the food), concrete canoe, steel bridge, and regional competition registration. It is also a good idea to show if ASCE has received outside funding for the activity. C.E.A.C.C. likes to see clubs try to find other financial assistance for events before soliciting C.E.A.C.C. for funding.

How Much $:

Belonging to C.E.A.C.C. is of no cost to WSU ASCE.

When:

Usually every other week on Tuesday nights at 6:00. Check with the current C.E.A.C.C. President to find out meeting times for the current semester.

Where:

The C.E.A.C.C. meetings are held in ETRL 101. Check with the current C.E.A.C.C. President to confirm the meeting location for the current semester.

Why:

C.E.A.C.C. is a valuable funding source that contributes a significant financial amount to ASCE every year, allowing our club to focus more on activities and less on fundraising.
