Meeting_Minutes

In attendance: Dr. Matveev, Andy Wekin, Nathan Klosterman, Casey Harman, Jeff Kensrud, Luke Walden, Nate (Jeff housemate).

We discussed a variety of hull designs and accessories;

  1. Foils
    1. Surface piercing will have problems with cavitation
    2. Better foils than Clark Y exist
    3. There are optimum locations for rear foils due to wave from front foil
  2. Retractable Step on hull (morphing hull)
  3. Pulse Width Modulation
    1. By pulsing the power to the motor, better battery life can be achieved. (DC signal is changed from analog to digital)
  4. Prop Pitch
    1. Optimized for motor
  5. Gearing for drivetrain- optimize prop speed and motor speed
  6. Air Cavity
    1. air is forced into a built-in cavity in the hull. Lowers drag

Also, Tuesday and Wednesday the 120 class is having a club exposition day, August 29th and 30th at 6:30pm. We will meet here at 6pm.
