This page is the beginning of a walk-through to advise you on survey design.

Getting your survey to your respondents

Which of these describe how you want to deliver the survey?

  1. I will post the URL somewhere, I don't have an email address for my respondents. This option will not restrict respondents to only completing the survey once. (This is called Single URL delivery.)
  1. I want the system to email the URL to respondents and to track respondents that complete the survey. (You will want one of the Unique URL options.
  1. I'm at WSU and
  1. want to send a survey to a class, and restrict the respondents to only members of the class.(Use Single URL AD Auth and AD Group)
  2. want any one at WSU to be able to complete the survey, but to restrict them to completing the survey only once.(Use Single URL AD Auth)
  1. I want to post a single URL, ask respondents to log in, and then show a list of surveys available for that respondent. (This feature has been designed, but is not available.)

Tracking your respondents

  1. I only need to know how many surveys were completed. (Any delivery mode will give you this information, the Respondent Pool Manager will give you this data.)
  2. I need to know who took the survey (for extra credit, to remind respondents to complete the survey, etc), but I don't need to know which respondent made which answers. (You need one of these: Unique URL, Single URL + AD Auth + Single URL + AD Auth + AD Group).
  3. I need to know which responses go with which respondents, for example to track respondents in longitudinal study (this is a confidential survey, it is not anonymous) This feature is not supported within the system, you will need to ask respondents for identifying information.
