Question Group
From skylightwiki
This page serves as an index to pages related to groups of questions, the 'columns' in a Matrix Survey.
- Question Group
- a structure to contain a series of pages that will all be administered to a respondent who's Respondent Pool metadata matches the Question Group metadata.
This concept is related to branching, but does not depend on the respondent providing the data.
Example:
When creating an end of term evaluation for Chemistry courses, some courses are delivered with lecture and some with a laboratory, and some with both. A question group is created to contain questions that apply to lecture delivery and another group is created with questions that apply to laboratory delivery.
A respondent pool is created for CHEM 101 which has metadata that describes the course delivery as "lecture." Students in CHEM 101 will only see pages of questions from the lecture question group. (In this example, the metadata Key is "delivery", the Value is "lecture").
A respondent pool is created for CHEM 201 which has metadata that describes the course delivery as "lab." Students in CHEM 201 will see pages of questions from lab question group. (In this example, the metadata Key is "delivery", the Value is "lab").
A respondent pool is created for CHEM 301 which has metadata that describes the course delivery as both "lecture" and "lab." Students in CHEM 301 will see pages of questions from both the lecture and lab question groups. (In this example, one metadata Key is "delivery", the Value is "lecture" and the other metadata Key is "delivery", the Value is "lab").
If this were to be implemented with Branching, the respondent would need to answer "Does this class have a lab" and then the branch follow that response. Since the author knows the nature of the delivery mode for the class, this question, and the possible errors associated with it can be avoided.
