Precondition

the mechanism used to implement a Branching Question also know as a Skip Pattern.

The typical branching question asks for a piece of information and then the the next question(s) are skipped over as a result of the answer.

Preconditions offer greater flexibility. One or more questions can be asked at any point earlier in the survey and then the appearance of subsequent questions can be controlled by the previous responses.

This allows the creation of multi-way branching, branching based on more than one question's results and multiple skip patterns based on only one question asking precondition data.
