Manage Access to Surveys

From skylightwiki

(Redirected from Granting Access to Surveys)
Jump to: navigation, search

This page applies to Version 1.2 (November 2008)

You can grant access to a folder (and all the surveys in it). This access can grant a variety of privileges (create, delete, edit folder properties, manage sharing), there is no mechanism to manage access to a specific survey within a folder.

Contents

Locate the Controls

Above the folder list are four buttons (see figure below)

  • Create (a new folder)
  • Edit (the selected folder)
  • Share (the selected folder)
  • Delete (the selected folder)

Not all of these options are available for every folder, depending on the authorization of the user.

Actions

Create Folder

Create a folder and give it a name. Names do not need to be unique, but if they are not, it can be confusing.

Edit Folder

Allows changing of folder name and description

Share Folder

Allows the management of a folder's sharing. Folders are shared to other individuals. An individual's authority in the shared folder can be controlled. Surveys within a shared folder are all equal (you can not restrict the rights of a person on a specific survey, only at the folder level).

Sharing uses an email address to identify a user.

The four permissions control if this user:

Can Create surveys
create new surveys in this folder
Can Delete survyes
surveys created by others in the folder; user can delete own surveys
Edit folder settings
title and other properties of the folder
Alter memberships
add/ remove users from the folder

A brief video demo covers the basic sharing process.

Delete Folder

This is a permanent deletion and cannot be recovered.
