General Concept of Custom Reports
Excel has multi-tab workbooks. One tab (named Data) will have values written to it by Skylight. Other tabs can use forumlas to compute report results based on data on the Data tab. See this more detailed description of the procedure.
Creating a Template for Custom Reports
The process requires a template be created. A template is an Excel workbook with a Data tab and other tabs that process the data. Template Data tabs are typically empty (any contents will be overwritten during the upload process).
The simplest way to create a template is to download the standard Excel report with data in it. Then create new tabs (and delete any tabs not needed) and populate the new tabs with formulas and charts as desired.
Test the template by getting a custom report.
Getting a Custom Report
- The Custom Report Download prompts user to specify an Excel template (on their computer) to be uploaded. The template is then filled with the raw data from the survey on the "Data" sheet.
- The "Data" sheet content will be overwritten after it passes through Skylight processing.
- The user is prompted to save the new file onto their computer.
