Create A New Survey

Survey creation begins from the main page of the application, which is reached after sign on.

  • In the upper left of this screen, choose New. Surveys are created in the folder that is showing when New is clicked. Other folders can be created to organize surveys.
  • Is the survey you're creating the same as one you've done before? You have two options: copy the earlier survey or, better yet, create a new respondent group for the earlier survey. The second choice is often better because, by creating a new respondent group, you can later analyze the different versions together, pooling data or comparing the two pools of responses. TIP: To get more flexibility (so that different respondent pools can be asked overlapping groups of questions, create a matrix survey.
  • After clicking New, supply information in the three fields:
  • Survey Title. This will be used by you to locate the survey in the system, and will also be shown to respondents when they are taking the survey, and they will also appear in search results. Titles may be long, in order that they be descriptive. Simple HTML such as italic is allowed here.
  • Survey Description. Further describe the purposes or uses of your survey. Simple HTML, such as web links, is allowed here. This material will appear on the opening page of your survey for respondents to read.
  • Survey Goals. It can help your survey design to articulate the goals of the survey, that is, what you want to learn. Simple HTML, such as web links, is allowed here.
  • Click Create to create the survey
  • Click the name of the newly created survey to continue.
