The term "Wiki" refers to a type of collaborative website where readers are contributors, or to the software used to create such a website. The term comes from the Hawaiian wiki wiki meaning "quickly".

How to Contact a Wiki User

The example below shows URL's for WSUWiki. To use this technique in another WSU wiki, simply replace "wsuwiki" with the name of the wiki you are using.

One method is to add a note to the user's "User_talk" page. To get to the user's talk page, begin typing in the browser's "address" or "location" bar:

http://wiki.wsu.edu/wsuwiki/User_talk:

and follow the ":" immediately with the username (WSU network ID). For example, this page is

http://wiki.wsu.edu/wsuwiki/User_talk:Scales

Then click on the "+" just beneath the blue banner on the page to add a note.

The next time the user contacts WSUWiki (logs in, or if already logged in, requests a new page), she or he will be informed that there is a new message waiting on their User_talk page.

Another way to get to the User_talk page is to click on a username where it is highlighted (for example, on a "History" display for a page). Then click "Discussion" just below the blue banner.
