Updating Filters in Outlook

It is possible to use filters in Microsoft Outlook to automatically move mail to a folder when it is delivered. If you have old filters that move Listproc mail, this tutorial will show you how to change these rules to reflect Mailman.


These screenshots were taken on a PC running Windows XP Professional and Outlook 2003. Your computer might look slightly different.

Changing Filters

1. Open up Outlook and go to “Tools” and select “Rules and Alerts”

2. Highlight the rule that you want to change and select the “Change Rule” option

3. Select “Edit Rule Settings” from the Change Rule menu

4. Select the link to change the email address that the rule applies to

5. The email address should appear in the “To” field.

6. To make the change, highlight the address and delete the old one. Type in the email address of the new Mailman listname and select “OK”

7. Select the “Finish” button to save changes

8. You’ll notice that the name of the rule has not been updated. To change the rule name select the “Change Rule” option again and select “Rename Rule”

9. Make the necessary name changes and hit the “OK” button to save changes
