Transcribing a recording with Dragon Naturally Speaking

Dragon Naturally Speaking can be used to transcribe a recorded audio file (such as a lecture) into a text file. Once you have trained Dragon Naturally Speaking, you can transcribe your WAV file into text.


All screenshots were taken on a Windows XP Professional computer. Your computer may look slightly different

Transcribing a WAV file

To open a file to transcribe to text, click on the Transcribe button. (If you cannot see the lower portion of the Dragon Naturally Speaking bar, click on the double arrows on the left)

Image:Dragon transcribe from.png Click on browse and find the WAV file you would like transcribed. Then click on the Transcribe button.
Image:Dragonpad transcribing.png DragonPad will then open and start transcribing your file. You can watch the text appear as it goes through. When it is complete, you can start editing it.
Image:Dragonpad rightclick.png To hear what was actually said, you can highlight the words, right click, and choose “Play That Back”
