  1. To set up your Exchange account on your iPhone, go to the home screen and tap 'Settings'. Scroll down on the 'Settings' page and select 'Mail'.
  2. Click ‘Add Account’.
  3. Select ‘Other’ from the list of e-mail account types.
  4. Chose ‘Exchange’ as the type of account (this is near the top of the screen).
  5. Your 'Name' will be your first and last name.
  6. The 'Address' will be ‘yourNID@wsu.edu’. The description can be anything you want. This is what the phone will display under the Mail program. Note: We recommend naming it something unique, such as ‘WSU Exchange Account’ to make it easy to differentiate between multiple accounts.
  7. Under the ‘Incoming Mail Server’ section, your ‘Host Name’ should be 'connect.wsu.edu'. The ‘User Name’ is your Network ID. The password is your Network ID password.
  8. For the ‘Outgoing Mail Server’. You will use ‘smtp.wsu.edu’ for the ‘Host Name’ and your Network ID for the ‘User Name’ and your NID password for the ‘Password’.
  9. Under 'Advanced' make sure that Use SSL for incoming is on and the server port is 993.
  10. Outgoing (SMTP) settings should have SSL ON and server port should be 465.
  11. Tap 'Save' in the upper right-hand side of the screen to save your settings.
  12. On the main ‘Accounts’ page, accessed by going to ‘Settings’ then ‘Mail’, you can select how often your phone checks for new email, along with how many emails it displays at one time. Here you can also set a custom signature to display at the end of each email. Note: There is a default signature automatically set, so be sure to customize it if you want something else displayed.
  13. To access your Exchange email, press the home button.
  14. Select 'Mail' from the iPhone dock.
  15. Chose your WSU Exchange account.

Additional Notes:

  1. When you set up your e-mail, your IPhone will automatically import any folders you have set up.
  2. Your IPhone Exchange inbox will not display any calendar invites sent.
  3. To delete an e-mail, either tap 'Edit' in the upper left-hand side of the screen, tap the red circle next to the email you wish to delete, then confirm by selecting the 'Delete' button that appears. Press 'Edit' again when you are done.
  4. You can also take your finger and swipe it from right to left over the e-mail while it is in the inbox to delete it. The 'Delete' button will appear and you can select delete.
