Add your Teaching Assistant (TA) to a Blackboard CE class

Go to the teach tab and choose grade book

To add a teaching assistant, first go to the teach tab in eLearning, then look for the instructor tools in the left hand course menu. Grade Book is listed in this course menu on the left. Click Grade Book and look for the button called "enroll members". Choose that button enroll members.

Choose enroll members into this course

On the next screen, "enroll members into this course", type the WSU network ID of your TA and then check the box for teaching assistant.

Next choose the "enroll" button. You should then see your TA listed on the screen. If no TA is listed see "if your TA is not found" below. If the TA is listed, Choose the checkbox next to the TA name and choose the "Save" button on that page. If you do not choose save, the TA will not be added.

If your TA is not found

Your TA must have logged into eLearning at least once to establish their account in Blackboard. You cannot add them by name but must know the WSU network ID, not password, just network ID. In eLearning, the User ID and the WSU network ID are the same.

If your TA is not found you will need to tell them to go to the login page

http://elearning.wsu.edu

On that login page, look for the login below the network ID and password box and have them add their account by logging in via myWSU.

The TA will only need to do the myWSU login once. After that they will be able to use the normal login box on the http://elearning.wsu.edu page.

Once they have logged in try the above procedure again via the gradebook to add your TA.

My TA needs to add course materials

If your TA needs to add course materials such as PDF files and organize the course home page content, they will also need to be a designer in the course. To add your TA as a designer as well follow the add TA procedure above (scroll to the top of this page) and choose the role as designer in addition to TA. They will need both roles. Designer gives the build tab and TA gives the teach tab.

I need to add CDPE staff to my course

If your want to add CDPE staff to your eLearning course they will need both TA and Designer access. To access course materials and download course content from the file manager , they will need to be a designer in the course. To add a TA follow the instructions above and to add a designer as well follow the add TA procedure above and choose the role as designer. They will need both roles. Designer gives the build tab and TA gives the teach tab. You will need to know the WSU Network ID for the CDPE staff member to add them to the eLearning course.

My TA needs to upload/download grades to Excel

If your TA needs this upload/download grades to Excel, they will need to be an instructor in the course. You cannot add instructors yourself to an eLearning space. You will need to request instructor access for your TA by calling 335-0434 or 335-1355.
