Microsoft Windows XP is a family of operating systems created by the company Microsoft. There are many different versions of Windows XP, including Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP x64 Edition, Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows XP Embedded, and Windows XP Tablet Edition. Each has their own different additions, though almost all programs are interoperable. Through the MSDNAA program, current WSU students are eligible to download free copies of the various versions of Windows.

Computers on ResNET that are running Microsoft Windows XP are required to install and run the Cisco Clean Access Agent. This program makes sure the computer meets all the minimum virus and patch requirements of WSU. For more information, please read the tutorial Getting connected with MS Windows.

Windows XP will soon be replaced with newest version of Windows, titled Windows Vista.
