What are Private and Public mySite Pages?
Microsoft calls Public and Private pages views:
- Your private page is a home page for you, with the things you want to see first, and links to other resources
- Your public page is your home page for others. You manage the things that others see by managing the premissions you set on links and pages.

Managing your Public Page
About all you can do with this page is manage what shows on the page, and for whom, by managing the permissions on items within your WSU mySite.
Adding your picture to your Public page
The business card on you public page can have an image in it. Its best that your picture be on an https server or your visitors may get security warnings when viewing your public page.
The easiest way to manage your picture is to start from your Private page and click My Pictures and upload the picture. Pictures will be scaled to the small size you see, large pictures will slow your page down. Scaling your image to about the right size before uploading it is recommeneded.
Once you have uploaded your image, you need its URL. When looking at your picture in the picture list of My Pictures, click on its name and a page will open with the picture.
Click on the picture again, and it will open in another window. Copy the URL you see now, when nothing else but your picture is in the window.
Use the back button and the Home link to get back to your Private page and then click Edit Profile under the Actions menu.
Paste the URL you copied into Picture URL.
Go Home, then go to your Public page to check your work.
