telnet is the protocol used to connect to the WSUnix servers without security. Any information entered into a telnet session is transmitted unencypted, and anyone monitoring the network will see this data. Most Operating Systems have a built in telnet functionality so it requires no third party software in most cases.

To telnet into the account from any windows machine...

1. click start.
2. click run.
3. type into the window telnet wsunix.wsu.edu.
4. click the OK button.
5. when prompted log in using your ID and password.
