ResNET

Jump to: navigation, search

ResNET, or the Residential Network, is the internet connection available in the residence halls and Yakama apartments. Often this term applies to the wired ethernet connections in each room, though it also includes the wireless available in the common areas of the halls. The network is maintained by Information Technology Services and supported by the IT Helpdesk

Computers that are behind the wired ResNet are required to have an up to date antivirus scanner and critical updates installed. Cisco Clean Access is used by IT Security to enforce this WSU policy. To assist, WSU provides Symantec Antivirus to any current WSU student.

There are a few tutorials available for residents, from keeping your computer clean of spyware, diagnosing a slow internet connection, diagnosing a broken internet connection, and how to obtain free software from WSU. We recommend that users read and print out these guides, so they are available in case the network goes down.
