Microsoft Live Communication Server is a corporate instant messenging server, which provides encrypted communication with Active Directory authentication. LCS integrates with other applications, including Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Sharepoint, providing the ability to instantly connect to any name/address you hover over.

In Fall 2006, WSU Information Technology in Pullman will begin testing a WSU implementation of LCS. The estimated rollout date to all WSU students, faculty, and staff is Spring semester 2007.
