Student Technology Consultant
Job Summary:
The Student Technology Consultant (STC) is the frontline of Student Computing Services. STC's are responsible for assisting customers in the labs by providing excellent service and support. This assistance includes answering questions related to the software and hardware in the lab, general network connectivity issues (both on and off campus), and support for WSU Network ID and Unix accounts as well as SCS accounts. STC's should also be knowledgeable of all SCS offerings, including Cougar Technology Orientation, Graphics Lab Services, SCS training classes, and faculty and staff Support. In addition, STC's supervise the labs by maintaining security and cleanliness. Training on STC responsibilities is provided during Employee Orientation prior to the beginning of the semester.

The STC position is the starting point for all Student Computing Services employees. Due to the wide array of STC responsibilities and opportunities for advancement, students in all majors are more than encouraged to apply.
Job Conditions:

Employee Development Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Employee Development Coordinator (EDC) provides support to all of SCS by developing, maintaining, and updating the Employee Development Program’s (EDP) testing, as well as the execution of the exams by creating a certification timeline. Once testing has been completed, results must be transferred to Lab Leads and the Operations Domain lead.

Job Conditions:
1. The Certification Coordinator must be able to work independently, and set goals and deadlines proactively.
2. Must be evaluated on job performance at the end of every semester.
3. The EDC must post a schedule of Office Hours. These hours need to be worked in the office, at the time posted.
Minimum Qualifications and Specifications:
1. At least one semester as a STC.
2. Must be able to work at least beginning August 1 prior to the beginning of school (during the regular workweek), preferably all summer.
3. Must complete training in preparation for this position.
4. Must complete all Tier I and Tier II Employee Development program requirements.
5. Ability to create tests that are valid in terms of measured skills.
6. Detailed knowledge of the certification process and goals.
7. Ability to work with a variety of individuals to get needed information for packets and exams.
8. Ability to grade exams fairly and consistently.
9. Ability to administer the progress of employees in the certification process.
10. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
Graphics Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Graphics Coordinator provides support to SCS by designing, creating, and maintaining signs, advertisements, SCS brochures, employee badges, awards, and other materials as needed. He/she will also be able to work with the Outreach Coordinator to create presentations for Alive! Sessions. All graphic files and materials are maintained on record for future use.

Job Conditions:
1. Must work 15 Consultant hours per semester.
2. Work closely with ACD consultants, the other Helpdesk Techs, and the other members of the Tech Team.
3. The Tech Domain Lead will evaluate all HelpDesk Techs each semester.
Minimum Qualifications and Specifications:
1. At least one semester as a STC, preferably in the ACD.
2. Knowledge of the network and networking a computer, how to install Ethernet Cards and modems, and about the computer services offered at WSU including Unix.
3. Completed all Employee Development Program requirements.
4. Must be in a major related to this position.
5. Should be able to manage time effectively, work pro-actively to solve trouble-shooting problems, work well both independently and as a team member.
6. Should be knowledgeable of SCS and WSU computer services, software and hardware, basic installation of Ethernet cards and modems.

Inventory Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Inventory Coordinator provides support to the Technical and Administrative Domains by being responsible for the control of inventory and purchasing of parts for Student Computing Services. He/she must consult with Techs and distributors on a weekly basis while keeping track of inventory and warranties daily and licenses monthly.

Job Conditions:
1. The Inventory Coordinator works closely with both the Tech Domain and George Ball. The Inventory Coordinator gets his/her direction from George Ball and the Techs as well as the Admin Domain Lead since he/she supports SCS hardware and software needs. The Inventory Coordinator must be able to communicate well with various people, including vendors, George Ball, the techs, leads and other plus positions within SCS.
2. The Admin Domain Lead will evaluate the Inventory Coordinator each semester.
Minimum Qualifications and Specifications:
1. At least one semester as an STC.
2. Completed all Employee Development Program requirements.
3. Knowledge of computer components and what they do. Knowledge of software.
4. Be able to coordinate and manage time effectively to complete the multiple projects that the Inventory Coordinator must deal with.
5. Have strong communication skills when working with vendors and techs.
Lab Lead
Job Summary:
The Lab Leads maintain all STC duties while maintaining a smoothly operating lab by overseeing and coordinating with the STC’s and System Wide Tech’s. He/she will be responsible for scheduling different lab hours for special events including Week of Welcome, Dead Week and Finals week. It is important for the Lab Leads to check the accuracy of timecards and make sure they are sent in on time. They are required to check inventory levels and email daily. The lab leads must attend weekly lab meetings to catch up with staff and remind them of general announcements and training. Performance evaluations must be conducted mid-semester and at the end of every semester on STC’s. The Lab Leads must make themselves available for questions, emergencies and other things that might pop up during everyday operations of the lab.

Human Resource Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Coordinator (HRC) provides support to the Administrative Domain by recruiting and retaining talent related to the SCS mission. There are two HRC’s who have a wide variety of responsibilities. The HRC’s are responsible for legal compliance in employment, diversity training and policies, personnel reporting, and employee relations. Most central to the HRC position is the hiring cycle. Much time must be dedicated to sending out applications, testing, interviewing, hiring, orientation, and training. There are also many daily responsibilities in addition to the HRC duty of maintaining a trained and efficient workplace. The HRC’s also file pay raise forms through the IT finance office and maintain the proper paperwork. Promotions are also in the HRC sphere. HRC’s organize promotion meetings and materials, document decisions, and ensure legal contacts. Maintaining close contact with the Domain Leads, SCS ID Director, and Student Technology Consultants is also an important aspect of the HRC position.

Operations Domain Lead
Job Summary:
The Operations Domain Lead (DL) is responsible for the smooth operation of SCS’ 5 technology labs, SCS’ training program and the training and employee development of all new SCS Student Technology Consultants (STCs). In addition to management the Operations DL is charged (along with the three other DLs and the SCS Director) with developing organization-wide long term strategy, managing fiscal constraints, interfacing with outside organizations and being instrumental in the hiring, promotion, evaluation, and termination of SCS employees.

Job Conditions:
1) The Operations Manager will work between 25-40 hours each week, typically under high-pressure situations with minimum supervision.
2) The Operations Manager will be available to work during the summer.
3) The Operations Manager meets with the SCS Director to review and evaluate work progress.
4) The Operations Manager also works closely with SCS Director to communicate regarding employees’ progress, as well as to revise and modify tools and tests.
5) When problems or questions regarding Employee Development format or content arise, the Operations Manager will be the point of contact.
6) For personnel related issues, including interpersonal problems and scheduling conflicts, SCS Manager will be point of contact.
7) The Operations Manager must post a schedule of Office Hours.
Minimum Qualifications and Specifications:
1) At least one semester as a Lab Lead, Training Coordinator or possibly the Employee Development Coordinator.
2) One semester of shadowing to learn the position is required.
3) Completed all certification requirements.
4) The Operations Manager must be available to work for one full year (Two semesters) after assuming the responsibilities.
5) The Operations Manager must be proficient in all aspects of certification testing process.
6) Must demonstrate knowledge of all material contained in every certification module.
7) Must be able to work well with a variety of people, and have the ability to train people on SCS and computer related information.
8) Should be familiar with intermediate to advanced technical skills for the Internet.

Macintosh Tech
Job Summary:
The Macintosh Tech provides support to the Technical Domain by maintaining the computer lab computers, troubleshooting, and fixing hardware and software problems that occur within the computer labs. He/she is able to attend several SCS meetings, train SCS employees, serve as a lab lead when necessary, and report problems to the Macintosh Desktop Developer. The Macintosh Tech gets the opportunity to order and test new Macintosh software. As many individuals are not familiar with Macintosh, they play an important role in the organization.

Outreach Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Outreach Coordinator provides support to Student Computing Services by serving as a liaison to outside organizations, corporate visitors, possible donors, future customers, and other groups. The Outreach Coordinator promotes and advertises SCS through contact with these groups. He/she has the opportunity to design, plan, and conduct Alive! information sessions. The Outreach Coordinator can work with the Web Coordinator and Graphics Coordinator to prepare presentations, publications, advertisements, and promotional material. They also gets to present at "Evenings of Excellence" and "Scholars Night".

Phones Lead
Job Summary:
The Phones Lead maintains the phone desk by overseeing and coordinating with Student Technology Consultants (STCs), other Lab Leads, the Help Desk Techs, and the System Wide Tech. He/she gets to schedule Phone Desk hours for special holidays, such as week of Welcome, Dead Week and Finals week. They are responsible for checking inventory, emails, and emailing weekly performance to the Operations Manager. It is important for the Phones Lead to make themselves as open as possible to answer question. The Phones Lead is responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service as well as a positive working environment.

Job Summary:
The System-Wide Administrators provide administrative support to SCS by processing timecards, invoices, billing, refunds, and cash transactions. System-Wide Administrators also answers any questions a customer may have regarding billing. He/she is able to get out of the office and distribute consumables to the labs at request. They are able to make updates to the System Wide Admin web page to ensure all information is correct and up to date.

System-Wide Tech
Job Summary:
The System-Wide Techs provide support to SCS by ensuring that all computer labs’ computers are working properly. He/she is able to attend several meeting around the organization and assist with the training of SCS Employees. They are given the opportunity to test new software and report results to fellow techs. The System-Wide Techs Hold regularly scheduled office hours in the lab, more than one hour per week in NSS, as well as in the Tech Office to offer support and answer any questions that arise.

Systems Developer
Job Summary:
The Systems Developer develops and maintains the SQL database driven dynamic websites. This involves the use of ASP, VB, and Microsoft SQL servers. He/she develops a list of objectives and goals at the beginning of every semester. The rest of the semester they get to work towards those goals created. It is important they stay on call incase there may be database problems. The systems development team helps each other solve problems together on a day-to-day basis.

Job Conditions:
1. The Systems Developer reports to the Systems Domain Lead, but also works closely with the other members of the Systems Team.
2. Received evaluations each semester from the Systems Domain Lead.
Minimum Qualifications and Specifications:

3. Shadowed the previous Systems Developer for at least half of a semester.
4. Demonstrated a proficiency in working with database systems.
5. Have a strong desire to learn how to set up and maintain a database and its related components.

7. Some knowledge of coding.

Systems Domain Lead
Job Summary:
The Systems Domain Lead coordinates the Systems functions within SCS as well as participates in all training, hiring, promoting and evaluating the Systems team. He/she has the opportunity to work with the SCS Director and Domain Leads. They are in charge of conducting System meetings and handling any issues that may arise. The Systems Domain Lead manages the servers for all of the residents’ halls. Lastly, they are able to attend several meetings around the organization.

Technical Domain Lead
Job Summary:
The Technical Domain Lead coordinates administrative functions within SCS and works as a team to create and ensure that policy is followed within the organization. He/she will work with the SCS Director, Domain Lead, and all positions within the Administrative Domain and other SCS employees. The Technical Domain Lead is able to attend several meetings around SCS and may lead some of them. Performance evaluations must be completed for each Technical Domain Lead position and be reported to the SCS staff at the System Wide meeting twice every semester. They are able to create specs for new hardware purchases. The Technical Domain Lead is able to participate in interviewing, hiring and promoting personnel and trains new personnel on administrative duties.

Training Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Training Coordinator provides support to Student Computing Services by being responsible for the training classes offered by Student Computing Services and by providing internal training to SCS Employees. The Training Coordinator updates and revises training pamphlets, and creates new classes/pamphlets to meet the needs of the students and staff at WSU and the employees of SCS.

Job Conditions:
1. Must be evaluated by Operations Domain Lead at the end of every semester.
2. Must be independently motivated as well as able to work with others in a supervisory capacity.
3. Must be able to work under deadlines including but not limited to deadlines for invoices and timecards.
4. The Training Coordinator must post a schedule of Office Hours. These hours need to be worked in the Office, at the time posted. These hours should be at least 70% of the Training Coordinator’s total hours. This requirement can be negotiated, talk with the operations manager for details.

1. At least one semester as an STC. Previous experience with classroom/teaching environments a plus.
2. Completed all Employee Development Program requirements.
3. Must complete training in preparation for this position.

Training Instructor
Job Summary:
The Training Instructors provides support to the Training Coordinator within the Operations Domain by being responsible for teaching training classes and developing training manuals offered by Student Computing Services. The Training Instructor updates and revises training pamphlets, and creates new classes/pamphlets to meet the needs of the students and staff at WSU. It is important for them to understand more information than what is offered in the training packet.

UNIX Administrator
Job Summary:
The UNIX Administrator provides support to the Systems Domain through continual improvement and maintenance of the UNIX network and its related components. He/she will be responsible for trouble shooting and fixing hardware and software problems. They are allowed to spend 5-10 hours a week researching and implementing new software and able to serve as the Systems Domain Lead when necessary.

1. The UNIX Administrator reports to the Systems Domain Lead and the SCS Director, but also works closely with the other members of the Systems Team.
2. Must work 15 Consultant hours per semester.
3. Receives evaluations each semester from the Systems Domain Lead.
Minimum Qualifications and Specifications:
1. At least one semester as a STC.
2. Completed all certification requirements
3. Should have been a shadow to the previous UNIX Administrator for at least 8 - 16 weeks.
4. Must be able to work independently but also be able to work well as a team member.
5. Should show good leadership skills, and have strong time management skills.
6. Commitment to continual improvement of the technical aspects of SCS.
7. Should have a good knowledge of coding, using Perl, CGI, C and shell scripting.
8. Must have a good understanding of how UNIX Servers work.
9. Need to have strong UNIX background, or have already demonstrated the ability to learn and maintain a UNIX network and related systems.
