Installing Visual Studio 2005

Microsoft Visual Studio, whether obtained through MSDNAA or from purchased CDs, is installed in similar ways. This tutorial will walk you through a common installation. If you have downloaded the ISO Files from MSDNAA, please see our tutorial Installing and Using Daemon Tools

Installing Visual Studio
| Once the CDs have been inserted (or mounted) you should be presented with the autorun screen. Click "Install Visual Studio 2005" to continue. | |
| The installation wizard will load components that it needs. Once this is done, click "Next" to begin the installation. | |
| Please read the user agreement. If you agree, check the "I accept the terms of the agreement" button, fill in your name, and click "Next". | |
| You can select what options of Visual Studio 2005 you would like installed. For most users, the defaults are fine. Click "Install" to begin the installation. | |
| Installation can take up to an hour, depending on the speed of your computer. Please be patient as files are copied over. | |
| In the middle, you will be prompted for a second installation CD. Please insert it and click OK | |
| Once installation is complete, you will be given this screen. Click "Finish" to close the installation wizard | |
| Some users will be prompted to restart. If you are, we recommend restarting immediatly. Close all your open documents and click "Restart Now" | |
| After installation, the autorun screen will allow you to install other items, such as the MSDN Product Documentation. These options require the MSDN CDs (3 extra disks), and will give you a local copy of the online documentation. Because these items are available online,they are not required to be installed. |
After installation, please run Windows Update and install all security updates.
