Background of CTO
WSU's Cougar Technology Orientation started over ten years ago in an effort to prepare students for using technology that is crucial for educational success. Then known as the Student Technology Orientation or STO, it has taken a few forms over the years, but has always stayed a static site. In the Summer of 2006 Student Computing Services rebuilt STO as a limited-edit wiki which is the new CTO. While it is not a wiki that everyone can contribute to, it still allows for different permitted groups to modify the content. The broader list of people who can edit the content of CTO will mean that these pages will be updated quicker, crucial for the quickly-changing world of technology.
How to use CTO
CTO is a dynamic encyclopedia of information related to technical services and the University network. Any blue link will take you to more information about the word you clicked on.
You can search for information using the search box on the left of the page, and several common categories are listed there as well. A category page will have links to more detailed pages explaining almost everything you might want to know about that activity.
If you see the following in a page...
| This page is a stub, awaiting extra content.
If you would like to see Student Computing Services add content, you can request additions to this page. |
it is a work in progress. If you would like the information rushed please use the "request additions to this page" link and we will put a rush on completing that page.
CTO will continue to grow and change as new services are introduced and older services are refined to be more useful. Check back often to see if something which helps you has been added.
