Friend ID
From CTOWiki
Some individuals who have a need to use a specific WSU system or resource are not eligible for a WSU Network ID, and cannot log in to the system. Friend IDs (or FIDs) were created to address this problem.

Creating a Friend ID
WSU Network ID Holders can sponsor a Friend ID, and individuals can self-create a FID.
[edit]
What a FID can do
All FID holders can do some things, such as make an electronic payment. For other things, the FID must be sponsored by a WSU unit, faculty or staff member, or student. The list is here.
In addition to the list on that page, FIDs can:
- Edit WSU Wiki
- View WSU mySites
- Own a WSU mySite (students for classes)
- Log in to eLearning for class (students, instructors, and guests)
- Log in to complete online course evaluations offered by CTLT.

Managing a Friend ID
[edit]
FID Holders - self serve
[edit]
NID Holders - sponsor a FID
- Sponsor a new FID
- Sponsor a service authorization for an existing FID
[edit]
Troubleshooting
- Problems making a password
- WSU requires a strong password. Read the "password hints" on the page. A "pass phrase" might be easier to create/ remember, e.g, "I have to cook dinner again 2nite!"
- Email invitation to activate FID was lost
- Call the ITS Help Desk, 509/335-HELP, Pacific time, and ask to have your FID activation email resent. You will need to know the email address (which is your FID ID).
